week 3 Activity 2: Rock ‘n’ Roll

This one I had to read about the Beatles tour of New Zealand and then post three interesting facts about The Beatles Tour on your blog.

Fact 1. The first place the Beatles went was Wellington New Zealand 21 June 1964 he had 7 thousand fans most were young women. One girl badly hurt her leg trying to climb a wire fence, and two others were forced through the fence because of pushing from behind. There were so many people that they had to keep people behind a fence.

Fact 2. As the band stepped off the plane, the shrieks of fans drowned out the noise of the engines. Te Pataka concert party performed a haka, before doing a hongi (pressing noses) and presenting the band members with tiki. There were lines of people to see The beatles drive past.

Fact 3.The crowd outside the hotel was so big that the beatles had to be taken a secret way through the bottle shop entrance of the hotel. Police had to use dogs to keep people away from the hotel. Teenagers were pushed over and damaged two police motorbikes. There was so much pushing that one of The Beatles’ cars was shunted backwards, even with the handbrake on.

  1. Hi Jess

Well done with this activity. Beatle-Mania must have been just crazy back in the 60's. Imagine everywhere that you went there would be thousands of screaming fans mainly girls, screaming and yelling at you.
It's crazy that they have to sneak into all of their venues through a back or side door to avoid all the madness!
It's great that they got a traditional welcome on their arrival in New Zealand as they wouldn't get that anywhere else in the world, so I am sure that they would have remembered their trip to New Zealand.
Do you know any Beatles songs?
There are so many to choose from but I think I like 'Hey Jude" the best.

Great work Jess you have put a lot of effort into this one.

    Until next time

    Allie :)
