SLJ W3 D4 A2

Week 3
Day 4
Activity 2: The Seven Sisters [4 points]

Today I have to write a short summary of the book. What was it
about? Try to summarise the story in 6-8 sentences.

There was a young man called Mitai who could change into a bird. He lived
with his seven brothers, they lived in a place called Maketu. The brothers were
the handsomest men in the village they were so fine looking they did not
marry anyone. One day they were hunting and they heard the best singing
ever and they followed it till they found the pretty wahine. They all fell in love
except Mitai he said they were harmful but they did not listen after that they
when back to the village after weeks the wahine made the brothers weak, have
no food and did not care about what they looked like. One day the wahine
were no where to be seen so Mitai went to look for them and when he found
them he turned into a bird and watch them.  They were making a plan to starve
the brothers to death. Mitai when back to his brothers and warned them. The
next day the brothers planned to trap them in a net so they did and it worked.
They tied them up to Mitai which turned into a albatross then he took them up
to the sky to God of the stars then they went up far away with her but the
wahine can be seen once a year they are now known by the 7 stars of
Matariki.

The End

  1. Hi there Jess,

You have paid really good attention to all the little details included in the story, I'm very impressed! I feel like you have told me the entire story all over again, not just the summary, and I thank you for that because I got to enjoy the story for another time!

Overall, did you enjoy this story? It's very creative isn't it? The most interesting part of the story to me was when Mitai's brothers began to lose their looks, something that was so important to them, just because they got distracted by the looks of someone else. It really teaches you a lesson about appreciating what you already have, don't you think? Who's your favourite character and what was the best part of the story for you?

You really are a star, Jess, keep soaring high!! ☆

    Best,
    Evelyn :)
