Name of Prime Minister: Jenny Shipley
Date of Birth: 4 February 1952 (age 65)
Political Party: National  
Number of Years as Prime Minister: 3 years  from 1997 to 1999.
Three interesting facts about my chosen Prime Minister:

  1. 36 Prime Minister of New Zealand.  She was not elected prime minister in a general election.  
  2. She became Prime minister when her party voted her in when Jim Bolger resigned as prime minister.
  3. She was born in Gore and grow up in Christchurch then became a teacher before politics.

    I really like the way you have set out this activity. It is great that i photo is at the top so we can see who you are talking about and then you follow up with all the information. It's great that you give us a small profile first and then the three facts. Well done.

    Jenny Shipley will always be a big part of New Zealand Political history as she was the first women to become Prime Minister. Even though she wasn't elected in an election.

    I didn't know that she was a teacher before she went into politics so thank you for let us know that.

    Maybe you might like to be Prime Minister one day?

    I have not seen or heard of her for a long time. I wonder what she is up to these days?
