Activity 2: Setting Sail

Activity 2: Setting Sail

This activity I have to pretend that I am writing a letter to a friend saying that I am going to New Zealand on a Waka.

Hi friend
Today I am going to go to New Zealand on a Waka. I am nervous because the boat could tip but I am excited because I am going to a new country also I am sad because I am leaving my house and friends. I have never been on a Waka and I hope that the water will be calm. I wonder if there will as many trees as there is here also if there will be many people there already. It will be weird because I will not be able to take much over.
I will miss you.

Summer Learning jouney

I am doing the summer learning journey and this is three facts that I learnt about Maui. The first fact is that Maui dreamed that he could go fishing with his brothers.  Each time that his brothers would return he would ask to go but they would make a excuse so he couldn't come. Another fact, one day he hid in the Waka and surprised his brothers.   His brothers were wondering why it was heavy. Fact three, he wanted to show his brothers that he could fish so he put some blood on the end of his rod and caught a big fish and everyone thought he was the best fishermen ever.

Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining

I have been learning about personification. That mean when you pretend an object is doing something that only a person can do.
Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining

WALT: describe an item using personification

We will know we can do this when we use a personification to describe the clouds OR to describe what the clouds are doing.

SELF ASSESSMENT:  I have included a personification in my writing
My buddy has /has not checked that I have done this

The house pounces on the clouds. The sky sprint away from the house. The boys stare across the candy floss clouded. He just want to eat them! He feet like pouncing off one to another.

Why you should lock things online And offline.

Why you should lock things online And offline.

I think that you should lock thinks because:

Lock thing online:

You should use a password so no one can get on laptope.YOu need a strong password that no one can guess like with some capital letters and numbers not a name.

Lock think offline:

You can lock cars with a key or a remote. A bike with a chain. Lock a safe. lock a house. You should lock things so no one can steal or break it.

So that is why you should always lock things online and offline.

Bridge Valley Camp

Bridge Valley Camp
Day 1  of camp:
On Tuesday we drove up to Camp. It was a long trip but we got there. On the way we got two flat tyres they went flat as a balloon, the first one was on Lase’s car and the other was on Ben’s trailer. I was excited for the rock climbing.

Day 2 of camp:
This is my 4th time at Bridge  Valley Camp. This camp is different to Hammer because we had different activities. One of my favourite activities was on Thursday it  was the cave/abseiling.I was the first to do it in my group.

Day 3 of camp:
Today I was a bit nervous about camp but not to nervous because I have been 3 times before.Today my favourite thing was rock climbing. I reached  the top on both of the walls. I was proud of myself because I was the only one in my school that achieved this.

Day 4 of camp:
My favourite experience at camp was the rock climbing and the abseiling. I will miss the great activities at camp but I will probably will be there next year. I really enjoyed doing the activities  with Q and Jamie. I can not wait to see Mum.

West Cost Hockey

This is a piece of writing I did for the news letter.

5.9.17

Last weekend Jess and her West Coast Under 13 Hockey team drove up to Nelson to compete in a tournament.

They had 2 games. The first game was against Nelson at 9am and then Marlborough at 12pm. In the first game against Nelson, west Coast lost 6-1.  This was partly because West Coast were a much smaller and less experienced team.   In the second game, because the West Coast team knew what to expect, they had better teamwork and they managed to defend well, drawing the  game 1-1.

West Coast travelled with only one sub which meant that although a couple of players got hurt, they kept on playing.

In the end the team really enjoyed it.  The tournament will help them improve for the next tournaments in Christchurch later this month.

Persuasive Writing

We have been learning how to structure a piece of persuasive writing.  We learnt about stating our position in the introduction, putting our three reasons in the main part of our writing and then summing it up in the conclusion.

Here is my first attempt at a piece of persuasive writing:

I think we should have some more science at lunch.

At lunch time at Kumara School we get bored so I am asking if we can do some science.

Firstly science is another learning thing. We do not do enough at Kumara School so we won't be ready for high School.

Secondly science can help you in life because if we get asked some questions we know how to answer them.

Lastly science is heaps of fun and we can do it at home.

Kumara School would appreciate it if you could let us have science at lunchtimes.  It is another learning thing and it can help you in life also it is heaps of fun.
