Activity 2: Making a Fashion Statement

Activity 2: Making a Fashion Statement

In this activity I compare clothing from 65 years ago to now.

In the past.....
Women and girls always wear dresses
Men and boys always wear suits
Women and girls usually wear hats
The girls have socks on with sandals
The girls dresses are usually poofy skirts
Probably all the same or similar colour

Now.....
Women and girls wear shorts and t-shirts and dresses.
Our dresses and skirts aren't so poofy.
We don't wear socks and sandals
Men don't always wear suits.
The length and styles of the dresses vary, some long and some short.
The dresses now are all different colours and have patterns or pictures sometimes.
Clothes now don't cover as much of your body eg your tummy

I have no idea what people will be wearing 65 years from now, but it will be way different.  65 years ago wasn't that long ago, like my Grandma was a little girl, but it has changed a lot.

  1. Hi Jessica

You have made some really good observations about the fashion both now and back then, it is quite different now though I think.

We are definitely more casual now than it used to be. You are so right with what you say about the clothes not covering up as much. Women and girls would not have walked around back then in a short top that showed their middle off!
Imagine what people back then would have thought about some of the things that we wear now. Even the likes of women wearing jeans didn't really happen back then. They did wear dresses and hats most of the time.

As for the future, who knows what we will be wearing. Maybe we will all be running around in shiny silver jumpsuits that keep us cool on a hot day and warm on a cold day. Or like you say it just might not be that different to what we wear now.
You didn't tell me which one your prefer? Then or Now?
Whats your favourite thing to wear?

Well done keep up the great work

    Until next time

    Allie :)
