SLJ W1 D2 A3

Week 1
Day 2
Activity 3: Miracle on the Hudson [6 points]

For this activity, we would like to hear about a time when you, or someone you
know, was brave like Sully.
On your blog, recount a time when you (or someone else you know) did
something brave.

The time that I was brave was when I was four and I got my Tonsils out. Tonsils are the things on either
side of you throat at the back. I got sick about 14 times that year so I had to get them out. I have a
memory of when they were putting me to sleep and gave me the choice of a smelly sock mask and
strawberry smelling mask. I chose the strawberry one. But I wasn’t the only brave person in my family to
get their tonsils out. My sister had to get her tonsils out about a month ago because she has been sick
a lot this year as well. She is 8.

My Dad is brave every day because he owns a farm and has to do dangerous things and make big
decisions every day. He also has to work with some dangerous animals.

None of these things are heroic bravery but this is how my family is brave.

Have you ever done something brave?

  1. Hi Jess

Great work with this activity. You and your sister are both very brave. It is a big deal going into hospital to have an operation. You would have been a big support for your sister recently when she got her tonsils out. As you would have known exactly how she would have felt.
    Well done for being brave!
Your Dad would have to do brave things all the time too. Just working with big cows is frightening sometimes. They are very big and can be so unpredictable. Don't think I would be brave enough to even be a farmer.
Do you work on the farm? You are brave if you do!

One thing I have got very brave at doing is speaking in front of a lot of people. Before I started doing this job and going around all the school, I didn't like getting up in front of people and speaking. Now because I have been brave I feel much better about it.

Keep up the great work Jess!

    Until next time

    Allie :)

  2. Thanks Allie, yeah I remember when I was going to get my tonsils out I was a bit scared because I was only about 4 I think. Yes Dad is very brave because once earlier last year a cow stood on his finger and split it open. HE had to get it stitched up. I sometimes go and wash the yard for dad or help mum feed the calves but usually just swim in the creeks. I don´t like to speck in front of people either.
    Thanks
    Jess
